Blue Giant Explorer, Chainsaw Man, The Fable, More Manga Nominated for Angoulême

The 51st Angoulême International Comics Festival has actually revealed its elections, and the competitors has actually chosen the following manga for its Official Selection (Best Comic) award:

  • Shinichi Ishizuka’s Blue Giant Explorer (volume 1)

  • Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man (volume 13)

  • Atsushi Kaneko’s EVOL (volume 3)

  • Katsuhisa Minami’s The Fable (volume 13)

  • Shohei Manabe’s Kujo the Implacable (Kujō no Taizai) (volume 3)

  • Hideyasu Moto’s A Nice Life (Tanoshii Jinsei)

Moto Hagio’s The Poe Clan volume 1, Takao Saito’s Confidences D’une Prostituée (Shōfu Naomi Yawa), Henry Yoshitaka Kiyama’s Four Japanese in San Francisco 1904-1924 (The Four Immigrants Manga), and Yoshiharu Tsuge’s Desire in the Rain (Works 1981-1985) are chosen in the Heritage Selection classification.

The following manga are likewise chosen in the Youth Selection classification: Naoe’s Tokyo Aliens volume 5, Hiromu Arakawa’s Daemons of the Shadow Realm volume 1, and Shinya Komatsu’s Afternoon Yawns (Gogo no Akubi) volume 1.

Hayao Miyazaki’s Shuna’s Journey manga is chosen for the “Sélection Eco-Fauve Raja” award (for works handling eco-friendly concerns).

Asumiko Nakamura’s Utsubora volume 2 is chosen for the “Sélection Fauve Polar SCNF Voyageurs” award (for criminal offense and thriller works).

No manga were chosen for the “Fauve des Lycéens Selection” award (for high schoolers).

The Angoulême Festival will range from January 24-28 in the Angoulême location of France. The celebration introduced in 1974 as an occasion commemorating comics from nations throughout the world.
