Uvalde Republican Candidate Slammed for Holding Gun in Christmas Post

A Republican wanting to represent a U.S. House district that consists of Uvalde, Texas, is dealing with reaction after sharing a picture of himself presenting with an attack rifle on Christmas.

Brandon Herrera, who is challenging incumbent Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez in next year’s GOP primary, on Monday shared a picture of himself using a holiday-themed sweatshirt while standing in front of a Christmas tree and holding a big attack rifle to X, previously Twitter.

Herrera, the owner of a popular YouTube account and a guns making business, composed “Merry Christmas from my household to yours” while sharing the image, wanting his fans “a safe one with friends and family.”

The photo rapidly stimulated outrage from those who mentioned that 21 individuals, consisting of 19 kids, were eliminated with an attack rifle in the May 2022 mass shooting at Uvalde’s Robb Elementary School.

Newsweek connected for remark to the Herrera project through e-mail on Monday.

Some protected Herrera and dismissed any link in between the Uvalde shooting and the congressional hopeful’s Christmas picture.
