Dead child found at University of Tampa in Florida

A deserted, dead infant was discovered in a trash bin near a freshman dorm room at University of Tampa’s school on Sunday, authorities stated.

Tampa law enforcement officer discovered the baby’s body covered in a towel in the receptacle at the school’s 401 W Kennedy Boulevard school around 7 p.m., WTSP reported. A Tampa Police Department representative stated there was “no risk to the general public.”

The mom was required to a neighboring healthcare facility for treatment, while the newborn’s body was considered autopsy, the outlet reported.

“The situations surrounding the child’s death are under examination,” the representative stated.

“The loss of a kid is constantly a catastrophe,” Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw informed WTSP in a declaration. “As our department actively examines this event, we desire all expectant moms to understand there are resources offered.”

The university informed trainees by means of the text alert system that there was “presently an active TPD examination in the McKay Hall location,” informing trainees to “prevent the significant locations,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.

A university representative informed Fox News Digital that there was “no risk to the university neighborhood,” which “the University of Tampa is not nor has actually been on lockdown as an outcome of this occurrence.”

“The University is working together with TPD on the examination and is providing therapy and resources to the school neighborhood,” Eric Cardenas, assistant vice president for interactions and public affairs, stated on Monday.

Florida has a “safe house” law enabling moms and dads to give up “unhurt” babies under 7 days old to any station house, EMS station or health center with full-time personnel, according to WTSP. No charges will be submitted versus the individual unless there are indications of abuse or disregard.
