As they frequently provide for tentpole characters, Nintendo– at their flagship shop at Rockefeller Center in New York City– held an unique launch occasion for their leading girl, Princess Peach. Having just recently (since The Super Mario Bros. Film) got out of Mario’s portly shadow and into the spotlight– thanks partly to Jack Black’s hit tune ‘Peaches’– Peach now stars in a video game of her own, Princess Peach: Showtime!, which launched on March 22, 2024.
Unlike numerous launch occasions held at Nintendo NY over the previous couple of years for The Legend of Zelda and Kirby, the celebrations for Princess Peach started on Friday, and ran all through the weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, where participants might play the video game on the shop’s huge widescreen, sample Kung-Fu Tea’s brand-new Princess Peach variation, buy any of the significant quantity of Peach-themed merch, get your picture taken with Peach herself (she deigned to appear face to face and take images with the typical folk), and obviously get a copy of the video game and/or a set of matching pink Joy-Cons.
