The Stockton Kings’ Lindsey Harding ended up being the very first female to be called coach of the year in the NBA G League on Tuesday.
Harding made the honor after directing the Kings to a league-best 24-10 regular-season record. They made the front runner in the Western Conference and a first-round bye in the playoffs, which start today.
Harding will get the Dennis Johnson Trophy, called after the late Hall of Famer who was a star guard in the NBA and a G League coach. The vote was performed by fellow coaches and basic supervisors in the G League.
Harding played college basketball at Duke, where she had her No. 10 jersey retired. She was the No. 1 total choice in the 2007 WNBA draft, and following a nine-year playing profession, she started work as a gamer advancement coach for the Philadelphia 76ers before investing 4 seasons as an assistant and a gamer advancement coach for the Sacramento Kings beginning in 2019.
She was tapped to lead Stockton before the start of this season, ending up being the very first Black female head coach in league history.
