Retired WNBA Star Ty Young Returning To Chicago Sky As Assistant Coach

No. 7 general WNBA draft choice, Angel Reese, will likewise be signing up with the group in the upcoming season.

Ahead of the 2024 WNBA season, retired Chicago Sky star Tamera “Ty” Young is going back to the windy city as assistant coach along with head coach, Teresa Witherspoon.

“I am really delighted to invite Ty to our training personnel and have her on the sidelines next to me this season,” Weatherspoon stated of Ty’s recruitment. “With over a years of WNBA experience and deep history with the Sky, Ty brings energy, enthusiasm, and spirit to motivate all of us. I can’t wait to view her coach, lead, and coach our gamers this season.”

On Instagram the WNBA group invited back Young, to which the North Carolina commented, “God is the best … I Love You Chicago. Elated to be Back.”

In her own IG post, the 37-year-old professional athlete mentioned the “Full Circle Moment …”

Assessing her very first start in the league with Atlanta Dream, she captioned an image of her finalizing her training agreement with, “On April 9, 2008, I was prepared to the WNBA. (Atlanta Dream)
On April 9, 2024, I signed my very first training agreement with my most prolonged period group, The Chicago Sky. Precisely 16 years apart.”

She included, “I am grateful for the chance then and now.”

Per Chicago Sky’s main news release of the statement, Young played in the WNBA for over a years. She played 9 years in Chicago out of her 12 on the court. Within that time with the Sky, the 6’2 ″ gamer balanced 7.1 points, 3.9 rebounds in 22.0 minutes.

Upon going into the league, Young was prepared No. 8 general by Atlanta Dream in the 2008 WNBA Draft and went on to bet Las Vegas Aces from 2018-19. She then played 9 seasons in Chicago from 2009-17 and retired in 2019. Aside from the WNBA, Young likewise played overseas in the nations of Latvia, Spain, Turkey, France, Israel, Brazil, China and the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Young isn’t the only addition to the Chicago Sky for the upcoming season. LSU star Angel Reese (No. 7), and South Carolina’s Kamila Cardoso (No. 3) were just recently prepared to the group.

“I’m so fired up, I get to have fun with Kamilla [Cardoso],” Reese informed the WNBA host. “I been betting her given that high school. T-Spoon is incredible and she’s done some fantastic things and I’m thrilled to be coached by her.”

Mentioning how she’s bringing her “winning spirit” to the league, she stated, “Just being available in and being competitive and having an open mind everyday to simply wish to work. I’m simply delighted to gain from my veterinarians.”
