Aljamain Sterling thinks he can “avoid the line” to get featherweight title shot with a win over Calvin Kattar at UFC 300

Aljamain Sterling thinks he can make a title shot with a win over Calvin Kattar at UFC 300 on Saturday.

Sterling is set to go up to featherweight to deal with Kattar in an interesting match, as ‘Funkmaster’ is going up in weight after he suffered a knockout loss to Sean O’Malley to lose his bantamweight title. After the loss, Sterling revealed he would be going up in weight, and will deal with Kattar on Saturday.

Aljamain Sterling goes into the match as the wagering preferred, and he thinks a win over Calvin Kattar might make him a title shot versus Ilia Topuria next time out.

“I believe so. I believe if Max heads out there and he wins, I believe I head out there and I win, and I look great doing it, Ilia Topuria currently stated what he stated. He states there’s no oppositions, so why not simply avoid the line rather of getting in a difficult onslaught of a line? I imply, the UFC, they do what they desire? If they use you a title battle, you ‘d be kind of insane to inform them no. If I go out there do my task, I look excellent on a substantial, huge card, the rest will take care of itself,” Sterling stated at UFC 300 media day.

Aljamain Sterling does believe he can get a title shot with a win, it does appear Alexander Volkanovski will get a rematch with Ilia Topuria next time out. Possibly if Volkanovski is not all set for when Topuria desires to battle, then Sterling might avoid the line for a title shot if he does win at UFC 300.

Sterling enters his UFC 300 battle with a record of 23-4 and is coming off the loss to O’Malley. Before that, he was on a nine-fight winning streak and had actually protected his belt 3 times. In his profession, he holds significant wins over Henry Cejudo, TJ Dillashaw, Petr Yan, and Cory Sandhagen.
